Colours of Transition

IMG_1062

When I felt the first shift of perimenopause
my favourite colours became Silver and Deep Purple
Silver called to me like the moon
mystical and feminine with the elusive majesty
of light sparkling on snow-covered ground
While Deep Purple spoke to me of my rich sexual life
my intensified drive for life-giving expressions

In the energetic midst of perimenopause
my favourite colour burst forth as Orange
like the flames of hot flashes and emotions
that burned over me and through me
all with a thrust towards happiness

With the full emergence into menopause
my thoughts are consumed with images of Pink rose petals
Soft
Resting in my innate loveliness
My attention effortlessly drawn to beauty
As I yield to the elixir of romance

The Rose Petals of Menopause

IMG_0966

soft pink rose petals
strength, already proven, gives way to curves
stepping into a new landscape of femininity
similar to the intuitive fancies of girlhood
perceiving romance to be woven into every detail
in harmony with the tenderness of the heart

The Launching

IMG_0903

Traveling a path she has already begun
Deepening the grooves and widening the arcs
Branching out and pulling in
A quickening in the pulses of momentum
Preparing to launch herself to where there is no longer road
Preparing to catch fire and soar

Wildflower

Texas Wildflowers - Indian Blanket in a field of Bluebonnets

embracing her natural state of joy and passionate abandon
a wildflower dancing in the wind
blossoming in uninhibited fields of unconventionality
and scattering seeds in places
where only she dares to know
that life can take hold

Colours of Celestial States

In her fertile years
a woman is like the moon
mystical and revered
ever changing
sometimes blood-red
never quite sure who of she is
from one day to the next
powerful enough to exert tidal forces
yet locked within the gravitational pull of her obligations

During her perimenopause years
a woman is like the sun
full of golden fire
burning up what has become irrelevant
and with access to enough energy to take her stand
solar flares may disrupt communications
but her passion ignites the blossoming of creativity
everywhere she casts her glow

And in her menopause years
a woman is like a silvery star
dazzling as she dances in the night sky
a point of reference
to those seeking direction
she delights in knowing exactly who she is
sparkling in her seasoned femininity
witness of accumulated wonders
until she eventually transcends
to heavens beyond her wildest imaginings

Advancing, With A Gravitational Pull

img_0709
Two planets collided
and when the debris settled
it was revealed that one was destined to become Earth
while the other took up its role as Moon

Past and Present collided

With the Past
like the Moon
forever caught in the gravitational pull of the Present
stark and devoid of life
and yet still able to exert force on emotional tides

The Present
like the Earth
full of vitality and colour and change
breathing and spinning and ever-renewing

The Moon and the Past most readily come into view when times are dark
they speak of history
of battle scars
and of altering perspectives
they are also illuminated with wisdom

The Earth and the Present
are a treasure chest of emerging experiences
a place with kings and queens in disguise
advancing against the edges of what could become

Two planets collided
and an epic story was launched.

Energetic Collision

The past superimposes on the present
bringing with it all the fire and passion that my wild veins can handle
burning up lies that have been told and boundaries that have been imposed
fuelling the firestorm of rebirth
